Media Ethics/Law

Please, Google, Stay In China

Google is considering pulling out of China due to China's Strict censorship laws. Google is fighting for the free flow of information to China, however China doesn't seem to be budging. I believe that even though China's laws have made it difficult for all of Google's users to have full access to their info, Google should find a way to compromise something with China so as not to lose China's assets to Google.

Propaganda Techniques

This Video was funded and approved by the US Department of Treasury in 1943. This Disney cartoon was to encourage every good American to do his "duty" and pay his taxes. Those who didn't wish to pay or didn't pay it gladly are characterized as friends of Hitler and enemies of liberty and democracy. The two messages were propaganda techniques because they used a kid's cartoon to send these messages.

Academic Research Project

For my academic research topic, I chose to research the perception of beauty in media. I chose this topic because many people struggle with self esteem and body image issues because of what they see in the media. The media has a big influence on society especially when it comes to this subject.

Internet.

I counted 178 "Social networking Websites" on Wikipedia.org. Majority of the sites listed, I did not know. I chose to research faces.com. Faces.com is a social networking site started for British teens. The goal for this website was to encourage online interaction.
I most frequently use Facebook and Myspace. An incident where a social networking site has helped me was when I found my long, lost, half sister on Myspace. I hadn't met her before, so her contacting me on Myspace was super exciting. That was probably one of the only times a social networking site has ever helped me, though. Ha Ha majority of the time they're just drama.

Favorite Recordings

My favorite recording of 2009 was "3" by Britney Spears! This song is just a fun song, and I've always been a fan of Britney, I've seen her in concert every time she comes to town. :)

My all time favorite recording ever is "Pop" by Nsync. With Britney comes Nsync, the best pop boy band of all time! :)
